About LEAP Africa
LEAP Africa is a non-profit organization that was founded by Ndidi Nwuneli. Since its inception in May 2002, LEAP has successfully launched programmes for entrepreneurs and youth in twenty six cities including the FCT in collaboration with non-profit organizations and leading financial institutions.
We offer a range of training programmes for youth, business owners, social entrepreneurs, managers and public officers. LEAP equips these critical stakeholders with the skills, tools and support that they require to serve as change agents. Impacted with new skills, knowledge and information to transform the society, many of LEAP's beneficiaries have initiated high-impact change projects in their companies and communities.
Our core programmes include business and youth leadership trainings which have been delivered across Nigeria and Africa. Areas of training include life and employability skills development, personal and organizational leadership, governance, business ethics, succession planning and talent management. These programmes have enhanced the life and leadership skills of over 50, 000 Nigerians. Youth Programmes are:
- Social Innovators Programme (SIP) & Awards (Annual Nigerian Youth Leadership Awards)
- Integrity Institute
- Employability Programme
- Leadership, Ethics and Civics Programme
- Youth Development Training Programme
- Youth Leadership Programme
Between 2004 and 2011 LEAP provided leadership awards to 65 Nigerian youth change makers leading sustainable initiatives in Nigeria. In 2007, it pioneered training on ethics, through its Integrity Institute in five cities and in 2008, launched its Leadership, Ethics and Civics (LEC) Programme for secondary school students in 5 States. In 2007, it launched an Employability Programme to improve the employability of disadvantaged youth in Nigeria which has reached undergraduates and graduates in seven states. In 2012, the Leadership, Ethics and Civics Programmes evolved into Youth Development Training Programme (YDTP). The YDTP is a training of trainer (ToT) workshop developed to increase the capacity, competencies of teachers, counsellors, youth and individuals in youth training and development establishments to train young people on its leadership curriculum to lead and serve as change agents.
The Business Leadership Programme and CEO’s Forum are programmes for the Nigerian entrepreneur and chief executives in private, public and social development sectors. LEAP recognized the need to provide management and leadership skills required for indigenous and small business enterprises to thrive in the second and third generation and launched its Business Leadership Programme in 2005. The CEOs’ Forum provides a unique platform for LEAP to expose business owners and chief executives in private, public and social development sectors to the importance of planning for their succession and instituting effective systems and structures, and values within their organizations to ensure long term sustainability.
Given its vision to be recognized as the premier resource for developing dynamic, innovative and principled African leaders, LEAP invests in continuous primary and secondary research on leadership developments in Africa. This research serves as the basis for our innovative curriculum. To date, LEAP has successfully published 10 leadership books that have received endorsements from local and international leaders and professionals working in related fields.
LEAP Africa has partnered with the Aspen Institute, Databank Foundation (Ghana) and Technoserve to launch the Africa Leadership Initiative (ALI) West Africa, an initiative that seeks to develop a new generation of community-spirited leaders in Ghana and Nigeria.
